Nobody takes responsibility anymore

Posted Feb 2, 2012 By Mary Gibb

Dear Editor,

In the past couple of years, I have had my car dinged in a parking lot three times. In all cases, no one admitted to doing it. Even a small mark can be expensive. When I took it to the repair shop last week early in the morning, they said that two other cars had already come in that day with the same problem. I think it is time we all try to do something about this.

I phoned the OPP office to ask if anything could be done. They said that if you see someone going away from such an accident, take their licence number and get a description of the driver. If it is reported, they can catch the perpetrator and charge them. Actually if the damage of your car is over $1,000 you are required to report it yourself.

Perhaps if we are all more vigilant, people would be a little more careful when they are moving around in parking lots.
