Stirling Lion Lin Clarke and SAO Fitness owner Shirley Anne Ord are encouraging area residents to lose weight and raise money for the Lions Foundation of Canada Guide Dogs program.
Money raised through the challenge will be donated to the Lions Foundation of Canada Guide Dogs program.
"We want people to 'weigh down' with the Stirling and District Lions Club," says organizer Lin Clarke. "Lose your pot and win half back."
An initial weigh-in will be held February 11 or 14 with the final weigh-in in June, Clarke explains, with the participant who loses the highest percentage of weight over the four months winning half the total registrations collected. The more people who enter, the bigger the prize, Clarke says, adding participants are encouraged to bring a friend. Registration fees are $20 per person with monthly weigh-ins offered to monitor progress.
The weigh-ins are held at SAO Fitness, 110 North Street in Stirling, with initial weigh-ins scheduled between 10 a.m. and noon February 11 or between 4 and 8 p.m. February 14. All participants will also be entered in draws for prizes provided by sponsors SAO Fitness, Julia's Women's Wear, Cedar Hollow, Blooms, Rustic Routes, Allure Day Spa, Bella Ever After and Curves. For further information contact Julie at 613-395-5652 or Lin at 613-395-0575 or visit the Stirling and District Lions Club web site.
