Jerry Tallon entertained visitors to last week's Family Literacy Day concert hosted by the Stirling-Rawdon Public Library.
In celebration of Family Literacy Day, the free concert was presented by the Stirling-Rawdon Public Library last Thursday night with plenty of singing and dancing and even a little learning thrown into the mix. Dressed in colourfully accented white tails, Tallon spent much of his time on electric guitar, offering up a host of children's favourites, a few rock and roll classics and some of his own compositions as well as plenty of prizes for the youngsters in the audience.
But there were bongos and harmonicas and lots of props as well with a selection of tunes that gave audience members a chance to show off their singing and dancing talents.
"This is our sixth annual event on Family Literacy Day," explains Children's Librarian Jaye Bannon, "to raise awareness of the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy related activities as a family."
And there was plenty of family participation as Tallon encouraged the entire audience to sing along and enjoy the ride.
Several door prizes were also available as well as snacks and refreshments provided by sponsors including West Wings, Essential Skills Software, Stirling Festival Theatre, Nortel Community Volunteers and Belleville Postal Retirees.
