EMC Sports -Marmora - January 25 marked the annual Ladies' Invitational Curling Bonspiel, held for many years at the Marmora and Area Curling Club. Fair weather prevailed, making travel to the event a pleasure for the 14 teams which arrived from Marmora, Norwood, Campbellford, Lakefield, Tweed, Picton and Stirling. The fun got under way at 8:45 and continued throughout the day, the first rock of the last game being sent down the ice at 3:30.

Marmora curlers, Wendy McCoy and Tracey Nicolson, accompanied a rock down the ice towards the house during one of the games held at the local curling rink during the January 25 Ladies' Invitational Bonspiel.
The day included two draws: KM Construction and the long-standing Queen Bee which has been taking place since 1978.
Lunch and snacks figured in the proceedings, with the former including a full chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, green beans, salad and dessert. There were prizes for all donated by club members and area merchants, as well as draws for two gift baskets brimming with goodies, and another for a helmet.
Sharon Scott's team from Norwood, including vice Sue Ireland, second Sandy Bruce, and lead Doris Stephens won the KM Construction trophy. In second place was Marje Lunn's team, also from Norwood, while Bernie Derry and her Marmora team were third.
A Lakefield team, comprised of skip Joanne Graham, vice Carol Kidd, second Darlene Hockaday and lead Linda Murney, took home the Queen Bee trophy. They were followed by Patsy Mitchell's Stirling team in second place, with Lynn Evans and her team from the Prince Edward Curling Club in third.
